Chicks Hatching

Posted on Wednesday 28 February 2018

We have been watching chickens hatch and grow. Henny Penny Hatchings delivered the eggs Monday 19 February. Two chicks had already hatched. Each day we were delighted to see more chicks. We even saw some pecking their way out of the shell. One egg never hatched. We have talked about why.

We really enjoy holding the chicks. Sometimes we watch the chickens on the floor at mat time. We are learning about eggs. Check out the STEM—Science Technology Engineering and Maths board above the chicks. We will keep two of these chicks until they grow into hens and lay unfertilised eggs.
